Nonverbal Communication Analysis No. 2481:
U.S.State Dept., Marie Harf and Heavy Framed Glasses,
Body Language & Eyewear (VIDEO, PHOTO)

Marie Harf, Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, gave a press conference today. She addressed the recent temporary closures of U.S. Counsels and Embassies due to the possibility of terrorist attacks.

Note that the frames of Ms. Harf's glasses are heavier (e.g. wider and thicker) than average. This particular eyewear characteristic will cause others to feel she (or anyone) is more sincere (all factors being equal). Research also show that they also will make a person appear more intelligent - by an average of 14% higher I.Q. (Pease).

Marie Harf's frames are also slightly larger relative to her face compared with conventional style. This relatively enlarged quality of the frame will make a person look more authoritative and older - thus more experienced.
