Nonverbal Communication Analysis # 2290:
Jim Harbaugh is Enraged
Super Bowl XLVII Body Language - 2013

Jim Harbaugh, the Head Coach for the San Francisco 49ers is enraged. At the time of this post it's the early in the 4th quarter and his team is behind 31-23 against his  brother John's Baltimore Ravens. When the eyelids open very widely - there are three primary emotions that should spring to your mind. Surprise and fear are two; however they are not exampled here. Severe anger - aka - rage is what Harbaugh's body language is revealing. Although with mild to moderate anger the eyelids will grow closer together (think Clint Eastwood in "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly") - when the anger grows to extreme levels the eyelids change to a "White & Wide" configuration.
