Leon Panetta, the U.S. Secretary of Defense is asked in this 18 December 2012 video at the National Press Club, "As former head of the CIA, please explain why General Petraeus was forced to resign instead of a lesser punishment" - alluding to David Petraeus' extra-marital affair with Paula Broadwell. The SecDef then laughs openly and makes lite of the question. Few would spot however, the evanescent anger he displayed at the 0:02 mark. Although it was not as short-lived as a microexpression, it was brief. This moment is captured in the imaged below, and this body language-facial expression was formed just as he heard the initial portion of the question, "As former head of the CIA ...." His lips immediately morphed with a thinning and stretching in a horizontal line (almost disappearing). This nonverbal display is highly indicative of the emotion of anger. Secretary Panetta did not want to be asked about the CIA since he currently holds a different office. Once the question was fully asked however, he thought the question was considerably naive and thus truly funny. His laughter is very sincere.
