Lupita Nyong'o recently appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Note: The original video has, since the original post, been removed from its online source. The image above however, was captured from this video. The brilliant actress was nominated for an Oscar for "Best Supporting Actress" for her role as Patsey in "Twelve Years a Slave". In the above video segment, she describes her brother, "... he lives in an exclamation point - his whole life is just like...". During the 2:44 - 2:47 segment (see image below) Ms. Nyong'o displays what is known as a "Basketball Steeple". This particular nonverbal is underutilized. It is an example of an "Alpha-Beta Hybrid" body language - not hyper-dominant (such as a conventional steeple) and not too demure (like a fig-leaf), but a healthy intermediate.
What is the difference between a traditionally female-displayed basketball steeple and those typically displayed by most straight males?
