The citizens in Kiev (Kyiv), Ukraine have taken on an interesting tactic in their protests of late. They hold up mirrors so the riot-police can look into their own faces and "see what they've become". In such a public setting, looking into a mirror brings on a much different effect compared that of the morning bathroom. It yields much more self-reflection of one's character, personality, etc. .... and in this setting one of World view & empathy. Thus this practice tends to have a shaming effect on the law enforcement. After all, they are citizens of Kyiv too. They are neighbors, friends and family. They have political dissent. The Kiev-ians are probably not the first do so, but they're the first on a large scale. Along with being nonviolent, this is a novel use of body language as a self-evaluation to effect change.
