Nonverbal Communication Analysis # 1888:
Rod Stewart & Ron Wood -
How the Hand and Face Collaborate

In this image, Ron Wood is being greeted in a somewhat strange manner by Rod Stewart. Though the two know each other well, Wood still has an expression of fear on his mouth. Wood is also closing his eyelids - showing he is trying to psychologically "block" the event and emotionally process what is transpiring. Note the tension in his hands - as manifested by fists. Whenever there is tension in the face, particularly the mid-face and mouth, the hands will show signals of stress and extremely high percentage of the time. If fact, if you think you see facial nonverbals consistent with stress - but you don't see coexisting hand tension, re-evaluate the face - for you may be reading the body language incorrectly.
