Nonverbal Communication Analysis # 1876:
Noomi Rapace, Anxiety & False Mastication

Noomi Rapace, the beautiful and talented Swedish actress best known for her role as Lisbeth Slander in the Swedish/Danish versions of "The Girl with Dragon Tattoo" and more recently as Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus, is shown in this image displaying a highly specific nonverbal known as "False Mastication". This body language signal is a term used to describe a gentle chewing or biting on the inner cheek and occasionally the tongue and it indicates anxiety. Accomplished actors/actresses are of course human with their own worries and angst - and although she is experienced at deceiving on-screen, in the real-world these apprehensions leak out.
