President Donald Trump pardoned Joe Arpaio on Friday. Last month the highly controversial former Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff was convicted of criminal contempt of court. Specifically, Arpaio "willfully violated an order of the court" by failing "to ensure his subordinates' compliance and by directing them to continue to detain persons for whom no criminal charges could be filed."
The President's written statement, released along with his pardon late Friday evening, in part said, "Throughout his time as sheriff, Arpaio continued his life's work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration," and "Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now 85 years old, and after more than 50 years of admirable service to our nation, he is (a) worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon."
As with any longstanding public figure, an image search for Joseph Arpaio yields many photos. From a nonverbal perspective, these search results are alarming. A dramatically disproportionate high percentage of these pictures of former Sheriff Arpaio show him expressing varying degrees of:
- Contempt
- Disgust
- Anger
- Impulse Control Disorder
- Displaced Aggression
- A high level of Prejudice
It's important to note that people can suffer from these psychological disorders without this nonverbal pattern - however, when these expressions are present frequently, you can bet your paycheck that such individuals have some combination of these bad behaviors.
