Nonverbal Communication Analysis No. 2447:
Johnny Depp Disagrees with
"The Lone Ranger" Director Gore Verbinski
But He Won't Say It Aloud ...
Tonto's Body Language
(Video, Photo)

Johnny Depp's new film, "The Lone Ranger" will be released on 3 July 2013. In this interview along with the director Gore Verbinski, his body language displays his disagreement regarding the role of Tonto. During the 1:58 - 2:00 segment the actor displays a "forward lip purse". This nonverbal is highly significant for clandestine disagreement. Johnny disagrees with Gore ... but will not voice it aloud. Such a facial expression is seen only in a person who perceives him/herself to be superior - a relative alpha. In many settings - such as a negotiation, legal or other professional , a business "ambush" would be highly probable.

In the seconds just after and just prior to his forward lip purse, Mr. Depp displays multiple anxiety tells. How many do you see? If your business partner exhibited such nonverbals - would you see them?
