The worst thing any parent can experience is a loss of a child. Bill Conner experienced it. When his daughter, 20 year-old Abigail Mae Conner, died in a freak accent in Cancun, Mexico earlier this year, 21 year-old Jack Loumonth was simultaneously suffering a heart attack. Ms. Connor's heart saved Mr. Lounmouth's life and some of her other organs saved three others.
Arriving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after bicycling 1400 miles from Madison, Wisconsin - Bill Conner got a chance to hear his daughter's heart once again. And although the two had not met before, the nonverbal nuance of their hug demonstrated true affection.
It's unusual that two men who have never met would hug so sincerely and with such affection - particularly in public. Yet this was anything but a typical situation.
From a body language perspective, note the full palm contact of Bill Conner's hands on Jack Lounmouth's back, shoulder, and head. Full palmar contact signals both high sincerity as well as high affection.
Note also Mr. Conner's closed eyelids - fully drinking in the emotion of the moment and being so close to his daughter's heart - another signal of sincerity and affection. The touching of Conner's and Lounmouth's full torsos is also congruent with these feelings. Moreover, the head-to-head and head-to-neck contact seen here also signals both emotions.
Prayers and strength to you Bill Conner. Stay strong.
