Nonverbal Communication Analysis # 2336:
Jodi Arias "Secret Video" Jury Will Not See -
Extremely Out of Context Body Language

As psychologist Dr. Michael Brannon says, there are many things which are obviously incongruous in the above edited video of Jodi Arias. It was filmed when she was alone on the day she was arrested and charged with first degree murder of her former boyfriend Travis Alexander. Standing on one's head is obvious and could arguably be (as was also stated here) a form of exercise/meditation to cope with the stress.

From a body language perspective, when Ms. Arias says to herself, "You should have at least done your make Jodi. Gosh." - her hands preen her hair and her elbows stick out laterally (in strong distinction to and sends a completely different message from when the elbows are pointed forward). This is a nonverbal signal of very high confidence and specifically says she is thinking of herself in a sexual context. This configuration puts breast on display, indicates high vitality, engenders the release of pheromone-like substances (vomodors) and also exemplifies a self-preening behavior.

To be thinking of oneself in a sexual context in the midst of an interrogation on the day of an arrest for first degree murder of her former boyfriend is extremely incongruous for normal behavior. This is particularly true given her later admission of killing Alexander in self-defense. It also indicates that Jodi Arias had, at that time at least, a high level of confidence that she would be found to be innocent of murder.

Nonverbal Communication Analysis # 2325:
Mila Kunis' interview with Chris Stark on BBC Radio 1 re:
Oz the Great and Powerful -
Body Language, Sexual Attraction and Mirroring

This is a hilariously fun interview to watch. In the video above a self-admitted rookie, Chris Stark of BBC Radio 1 (U.K.), interviews mega-star Mila Kunis. He's supposed to be asking her questions about Kunis' latest screen role as "Theodora" - the youngest witch in the new movie, "Oz, the Great and Powerful". Stark is clearly smitten with Ms. Kunis (as are most men) and he freely admits his anxiety. Because of candidness - and Mila's empathy - a highly entertaining interview ensues. Lots of Body language here - worthy of many posts. Here are a just a few highlights which are instructive and will surprise many:

Self-touching of one's head or neck is a clear signal of anxiety. We can nuance the Body language much more though depending on what other nonverbals it is clustered with - as well as the verbal and paralanguage cues. Here we see Chris Stark's left forearm as he is feeling anxiety. The reason he's feeling nervous is he's about to ask Ms. Kunis to go with him to his friend "Dicko's" wedding.

Here is Stark from the front a few seconds later persisting in this head touching. He's also blushing (which he does easily and often throughout the interview).

A few more seconds pass and Ms. Kunis mirrors his action. We mirror people who we:
     - are "in sync" with,
     - who we respect, or
     - those to whom we're attracted.

But which one is it?

When Mila's arm extends laterally and fully exposes her armpit we know she is feeling sexually attracted. This subconscious but natural transition from the mirroring behavior also puts breast on display and releases pheromones or pheromone-like substances from the armpits. It also signals of over-all health and well-being. This may strike some as odd or not very likely, but it is unequivocally true. Most who watch this interview probably can sense this chemistry intuitively and will find themselves hoping that she takes a short break from her film in June and attends Dicko's wedding with the brave Chris Stark.

Mila drops other verbal and nonverbal hints during this interview - can you spot them? She has a very high empathy quotient. Can you recognize this incredibly valuable quality? What other body language beacons are signaled here?

Nonverbal Communication Secret # 1805:
The Most Beautiful Woman in the World
What Makes Her Even More Alluring?
Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai is considered by many to be the most beautiful woman on the planet. A former Miss India and Miss World (1994), she uses two commonly seen flirtatious signals in this posed photograph to dial-up her sex appeal.

When the armpits are exposed, it sends signals of confidence and comfort, but it also releases pheromones or pheromone-like substances. These chemical messagers stimulate the olfactory (sense of smell) systems of potential lovers - some more than others. This pose has the additional effect of putting the breasts dominantly on display. It's also a body language which signals over-all health and wellbeing. When a woman adopts the armpit exposed configuration, she is physically attracted to someone in the immediate area.

Aishwarya's hand/finger is also discretely pointing to her right eye. This subtle directing of another's gaze to one's own eye is a high-yield flirting tactic. Ms. Rai - or anyone else who displays this nonverbal - wants you to look (not stare) into her eyes. To increase the flirtation further she may hold your gaze for a second or two then, then look down, and look back up again, re-establishing eye contact along with a subtle smile. Slow preening of her hair (back or side of her head) while keeping her elbow out and armpit exposed, further would further amplify this effect.

Romance and Dating Secret # 231:
A Classic Female Sexual Display

In this photo, the very beautiful and talented Eva Longoria (Tony Parker - what's wrong with you?!) gives us a great example of a classic female sexual display. When a woman preens her hair with her armpit exposed, this is a signal that she is sexually attracted to someone in the immediate vicinity. True preening of any type, is a signal of respect or attraction - however female hair preening with the elbow/arm extended laterally and her armpit exposed - this is a strong (though largely subconscious or edge-of-consciousness gesture) biological signal of female sexuality. Such arm position puts the breasts on display in a prominent fashion while simultaneously exhibiting overall health and confidence. The exposed armpits also allow releasing of pheromones and/or pheromone-like substances. These chemical messengers stimulate potential lovers' olfactory systems to powerfully and subliminally attract them. Be careful not to confuse any "hair touching" in an over-generalized fashion - for there are, to the untrained eye, somewhat similar gestures with essentially opposite meanings.
