Nonverbal Communication Analysis No. 3361: The Johnson Treatment - Body Language and Personal Space (PHOTOS)




In this famous image of Lyndon Johnson and Abe Fortas, the President uses his 6 foot 3.5 inch height to invade Abe Fortas' interpersonal (intimate) space. The President's routine use of this largely deliberate nonverbal maneuver to intimidate others became known as "The Johnson Treatment".

One common subconscious cause of routine encroachment into the intimate space of another is Narcissistic  Personality Disorder. Can you name another prevalent cause?
