During a recent basketball game against Texas Tech, Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State Cowboys Guard) pushed a fan.
Less than a second into the above video, the male fan can be seen displaying a classic expression of disgust directed at Mr. Smart.
Of particular note here is the tightening of his mid-face and the flaring of his nostrils.
Approximately 1 second later, after Marcus Smart commits assault on a fan, the adjacent woman gives a great example of a surprise expression.
During significant episodes of sincere surprise, the forehead is strongly contracted and elevated along its entire width, the eyelids are very widely opened - and the mouth is opened extremely widely in an oval - the long axis of which is vertically oriented. A very important component to this expression is that the upper or lower teeth are rarely exposed - as they are covered by tightly-stretched lips.
