Body Language Analysis No. 4204: Sarah Huckabee Sanders regarding Rob Porter and the Leaking of Classified Information - Nonverbal and Emotional Intelligence (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

On Monday, White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders addressed questions regarding Rob Porter. Until last week, Mr. Porter was President Trump's staff secretary. He resigned after allegations from both of his ex-wives and a previous girlfriend regarding physical and emotional abuse were made public.

What follows is a partial nonverbal analysis of a crucial portion of Monday's press briefing.

KRISTEN WELKER (continuing at 9:18): Can you guarantee that you are protecting classified information given that you had someone like Rob Porter who didn't have a permanent security clearance with access to classified information?

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS [over-talking]: I think we're doing and taking every step we can to protect classified information - I mean, frankly, if you guys have such concern with classified information - there's plenty of it that's leaked out of The Hill, that's leaked out other, ah, communities - well beyond the White House walls. If you guys have real concerns about leaking out classified information, look around this room - you guys are the ones that publish classified information and put national security at risk - that doesn't come from this White House.

KRISTEN WELKER: Is this White House jeopardizing national security. Is this White House jeopardizing that?

SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS [over-talking]: We take every precaution possible to protect classified information and certainly to protect national security - it's the President's number one priority [deep inhalation] is protecting the citizens of this country. It's why we spend every single day doing everything we can [up-speaking] to do that - and I think, ahum, if anyone is publishing or putting out publicly classified information, it's members of the press, not the White House.

Beginning at 10:06, Ms. Huckabee Sanders continues, "... and I think, ahum, if anyone is publishing or putting out publicly classified information, it's members of the press, not the White House."

As she spoke the word, "classified", she begins to lift her right hand, and proceeds to momentarily cover her mouth and brush the underside of her nose as she says, "information" (during 10:11).

Facial touching, particularly mouth covering and nose rubbing/touching/scratching in this context - as she is defending the White House's actions - and as she then accuses the Press of leaking classified information - while not absolute proof of deception, this verbal-nonverbal behavior cluster does indicate with extremely high likelihood that Ms. Huckabee Sanders is lying.

In this second image, captured as she speaks the third syllable of the word, "Information", Ms. Huckabee Sanders's mouth takes on an asymmetrical configuration - which is an indication of insincerity and bravado.

Note how she also looks away from Ms. Welker - who had asked the question - at this same moment. The lack of eye contact at this crucial moment - clustered with the other described nonverbal behaviors - is tremendously suspicious of deception.

Summary: With extremely high likelihood, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is lying in her defense of the White House's conduct with respect to protecting classified information.
